Toxic narcissistic people have a unique ability to push your buttons and get you emotionally dysregulated. It is incredibly important to recognize when this is happening and take steps to keep yourself calm.
Show Notes
In this show we discuss how a toxic narcissistic ex is able to target their “button pushes” to trigger raw emotions and emotional dyregulation. Duane discusses the importance of recognizing this and then taking steps to calm yourself down. We then address a concern, example, where the other parent is doing things that we do not agree with. Duane then discusses examples of his own person unhealthy coping mechanisms in the early days of his experience. A listener brings up the topic of which “violations” are important enough to fight. We then talk about the importance of listening to your children and giving them the ability to express their views – with us explaining WHY. DSD talks about the unfairness and frustration of having to pay for things that aren’t even used. This leads into a discussion of finding ways to break free from the recurring anger.
